You get what you pay for, that's for sure!

Recently a friend of mine at Coopet Photography posted a link to this blog in which a photographer explained her thoughts on the common saying "Your Camera Takes Really Nice Pictures!". Upon reading this blog, I couldn't help but agree with what she was saying and that's when it hit me, although I'm just starting out in the art of photography, it's insulting to anyone who is trying their best to learn the art. It can come off as a compliment to some as to an extent the phrase is correct, yes a professional, high grade camera can do great work, but it's so much more than that. I feel as if a lot of clients will often ask about the price of session and feel uncomfortable with what they are quoted, based on the fact they're not so sure what all goes into what I'm doing.

Let's start off by putting it this way: It is not just the camera & the equipment that makes someone a photographer. If this was true, just anyone could pick up a camera, snap a shot, and call it fabulous. As pointed out in the blog article, it takes a trained eye to spot certain differences. Even the best photographers have to start off somewhere and it's true, not every picture will come out perfect, it's what you do with that image! After every photoshoot, it doesn't end with the photographer packing up, going home, and instantly uploading your images and everything's perfect. No, it's more than that. With every image that's uploading, comes a long way of making sure the image given to you is perfect. This includes colouring, enhancing your image, removing any spots, removing anything from the background that just doesn't belong, even making sure that if your eyes happen to be closed on what has potential to be a great photograph, we can fix that for you!

Provided are 3 of my images from previous photoshoots that each have different editing provided. Including fixing the lighting, removing people from the background, even a studio photoshoot that didn't provide enough backdrop. Check it out:So you see, you're not just paying for the time it takes for the images to be captured, picking the best location and lighting, and picking out the best poses, you're paying for what comes next. Would you prefer to pay for the before or after image?

The reality of it is, you get what you pay for! A photographer is here to help you capture that special moment and preserve it for all of eternity. Why hold on to something mediocre, when you could hold on to something spectacular?

Yours truly,
Lady Red
